Banket- The Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance Festival is set to take place from May 10 to July 19, bringing together Zimbabwe’s best traditional dance groups to showcase their talents and compete for top prizes.
The Mashonaland West edition of the festival will be held at EMM Leisure Sports Bar and Gardens in Banket on May 31, 2025.
Loretta Ndlovu, National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) Provincial Manager, has extended an invitation to traditional dance groups to participate in the competition, saying, “This festival provides a unique platform for dance groups to show their talents and preserve our cultural heritage. We look forward to seeing the creativity and passion of our traditional dance groups, and we invite dance groups in Mashonaland West Province to register and participate in the competition.”
The festival’s theme, “Ngoma Ngairire Shamwari!”, celebrates unity and Zimbabwe’s rich cultural heritage.
The winning dance groups will receive substantial prizes: $15,000 for first place, $10,000 for second place, and $7,500 for third place.
Dance groups interested in participating can register at National Arts Council of Zimbabwe offices in Chinhoyi and other provinces.
The Chibuku Neshamwari festival promises to be an exciting celebration of Zimbabwe’s vibrant culture and heritage, with talented participants and electrifying performances.
