As her reign draws to a close, outgoing Miss Universe Zimbabwe Lyshanda Moyas stands tall — not merely as a titleholder, but as a testament to what belief, courage, and purpose can build.
A year ago, she stepped into the unknown. No guarantees. No script. Just a dream that refused to be quieted by fear.
Today, as she prepares to hand over the crown, Moyas reflects not on the glittering moments alone, but on the grind — the doubts, the sacrifices, the shaping.
“It was a year of transformation,” she says. “Every challenge, every moment of doubt — it was all shaping me into the woman I was destined to become.”
In a heartfelt message shared as she readies herself for the transition, Moyas offered a raw and honest look at her journey:
“Time to pass the button! From a dream to a crown . . . and from fear to purpose.”
Her words are not those of someone saying goodbye, but of someone passing a torch. And the woman holding that torch next, she insists, must carry more than a crown.
To her successor, Moyas offers this charge:
“Your journey is not just about the crown. It is about purpose, impact, growth, and discovering the power within yourself. Never let fear convince you that you are not enough.
“The moment you choose to believe in yourself and take that first step, your entire life can change.”
During her time on the national and international stage, Moyas has inspired a new generation of young Zimbabwean models and dreamers — especially young women who once believed that titles were reserved for someone else. She proved otherwise.
“This platform changed me, strengthened me, and gave me a voice beyond borders,” she says. “And now, it is your turn to rise, to inspire, and to carry the Zimbabwean dream onto the world stage.”
Moyas’ departure also comes at a pivotal moment for the Miss Universe Zimbabwe Organisation, which has recently unveiled a formidable new leadership structure.
The organisation proudly announced the full constitution of its leadership team, with Madame Danya Kabwebwe assuming the role of Board Chairperson. Her distinguished leadership in business and energy brings a strong foundation of vision and strategic direction to the helm.
Supporting her is Board Advisor Zodwa Mkandla, alongside an accomplished Board comprising Apphia Musavengana (founder and president of Concord for Young Women in Business), Tendai K. Zhou (Kevin The Wedding Planner), Tafadzwa Zimoyo, Darlic Marandure, Brooke B. Jackson, and Joshua Taderera.
Together, this dynamic leadership embodies a diverse blend of expertise, creativity, and governance excellence — steering the organisation into a new era of inclusivity, innovation, and national pride.
They will work closely with the Executive Team led by Tendai Hunda (Chief Executive Officer) and Patience Lusengo (Director Miss World and Miss International). The Board is committed to strengthening the organisation’s mandate of empowering young women, fostering leadership, and elevating Zimbabwe’s global presence in the pageantry space.
As Moyas prepares to take her final bow, she leaves behind more than a reign. She leaves a blueprint: dream boldly, walk through fear, and when your time at the front of the stage ends, turn around and lift the next woman up.
The crown changes hands. But purpose, once found, never leaves.
