Musicians Hwinza, Nisha Ts, Oriyano, Shashl and Bagga are some of the debutants at this year’s edition of the National Arts Merit Awards.
The event set for 1 March 2025 will also see big names the likes of Michael Mahendere, Joyful Praise Choir, The Choice Children’s Chori Denilson the saxophonist and ProBeatz also performing on the night.
Oriyano who has been getting massive airplay on social media with his hits Makarima Mupoto and Ndakuda (Super Glue) is likely to rev up the audiences when he takes to the stage.
Another must see include Shashl and Nisha Ts both have had a good run in their music careers and will bring that young flavour to the ceremony
NAMA Director Tinashe Kitchen said over and above the list there will be surprise acts at the Hippodrome.
“Following an extensive search for a venue that would allow us to showcase and bring to life our theme, #afrofuturism, NAMA is excited to bring the event to a new venue for the very first time.
“Our goal is to celebrate all forms of art. Therefore, our performances will feature aspects of
dance, theatre, film, television, and spoken work in addition to music,” Kitchen said.
