In a groundbreaking development set to propel Hurungwe into a new era of prosperity, the West China Cement Company has unveiled plans to construct a state-of-the-art cement factory, which will provide employment for over 2,000 Zimbabweans.

This visionary investment is poised to reshape the local economy and provide a much-needed boost to the nation’s industrial growth, directly contributing to President Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030 of achieving an upper-middle-income status.

West China Cement Limited, a global cement industry giant with a strong presence in Shaanxi Province and several African nations, including Mozambique, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Ethiopia, has chosen Zimbabwe as its next major investment hub.

This decision speaks volumes about the confidence international investors have in Zimbabwe’s leadership and economic stability under President Mnangagwa’s administration.

Thomas Chidzomba, acting chairman of WIH ZIM, expressed unwavering optimism about the project’s prospects, stating, “The construction of the cement plant is on track, and we are confident it will be completed early next year. This investment is not just about cement, but about revitalizing the economy and creating opportunities for thousands of Zimbabweans.”

The cement factory is just one part of the company’s broader commitment to the country, with plans also in motion for a 600-megawatt thermal power station in Matabeleland North that will significantly contribute to Zimbabwe’s national power supply.

Chidzomba further highlighted that the company’s work aligns directly with President Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030, focusing on sustainable development and economic transformation.

“We are dedicated to this cause, working tirelessly to ensure that each project contributes to the nation’s long-term growth,” he said.

“We’re building Zimbabwe, brick by brick, stone by stone — ensuring that no citizen is left behind.”

Site Manager Zhang Wei also praised Zimbabwe’s favorable investment climate, remarking, “The security is good, and the people are incredibly welcoming.

“This project is a top priority for us, and it speaks to the tremendous potential Zimbabwe has as an investment destination in Africa.”

The establishment of the cement factory is expected to have far-reaching positive effects on the local economy, creating not only direct jobs but also fostering growth in complementary sectors like logistics, construction, and retail.

As demand for construction materials soars, local businesses stand to flourish, adding to the economic vibrancy of the region.

For the residents of Hurungwe, the factory represents a beacon of hope. Many are excited about the prospect of stable employment and the positive economic ripple effects the factory will bring.

The region, once challenged by economic hardships, is now seeing a bright future unfold thanks to visionary leadership and international partnerships.

As the factory’s construction continues to take shape, there is palpable excitement in Hurungwe, with locals eager to witness the transformative impact this project will have.

The positive changes brought about by this major investment are expected to echo far beyond Hurungwe, reinforcing Zimbabwe’s position as an emerging economic powerhouse in Africa.
