Roots-reggae legend Burning Spear who arrived in Zimbabwe Wednesday ahead of his concert on Friday has been described as a giving person.
He brought along his full band and also a private chef.
Speaking on behalf of the singer during a press briefing his tour manager Marcia Elliot confirmed Burning Spear’s humility on and off the stage.
“One thing about his music is that it comes from the heart and if it doesn’t then he doesn’t sing at all. He is a perfectionist and he gives 100 percent he has always been humble and a giver and would give the last thing in his pocket,” Marcia said.
Turning to the concert, the manager said fans should expect nothing but high energy on stage.
“This whole tour could have been cancelled in September but Burning Spear said ‘No’ so this shows his love for Africa,” Marcia said.
“Yes, he is 79 years old but when he is on stage he looks like he is 15 you wont match his energy.”
Burning Spear is brought to Zimbabwe courtesy of Friends of Jamaica working hand in hand with Sound System Club.
Burning Spear is also expected to visit some of the Rasta Communities in the High Density Suburbs as well as meeting some of his fans.
Tickets are selling at all MedOrange Pharmacies in the capital, with organisers urging fans to buy early to avoid last minute rush.
Burning Spear is touring the continent as part of the One People Africa Tour 2024.
