Vintage Vibes Family Fun Day, a unique event designed to promote mental wellness among senior citizens and their families will be launched in Lochinvar on 26 October 2024.
The event, aimed at supporting mental wellness among senior citizens and their families will start at 12 noon until 6pm at Everbrite Gardens.
Several activities are lined up for the day including comedy performance by Ckhanyiso Dat Guy, Live band performance by Brian Nyahuma featuring yesteryear music, expert-led talk on mental wellness, opportunities for seniors to share life stories and experiences as well as free blood pressure checks and breast cancer screening (optional).
Even organizer and motivator Liz Dziva said the event is also aimed at breaking down barriers and fostering a culture of understanding.
“Mental health affects us all, regardless of age. By engaging senior citizens and their families, we are breaking down barriers and fostering a culture of understanding. Our event is a beacon of hope, and we invite you to join us in making a difference.
“We have extended a special invitation to Missionaries of Charity Old Peoples Home in Adbennie, providing an opportunity for their residents to interact with the community and enjoy tailored entertainment,” Liz said.
She also invited corporates to support the cause and demonstrate commitment to corporate social responsibility and community engagement.
“We are proud to partner with The Friendship Bench, an evidence-based intervention developed in Zimbabwe to bridge the mental health treatment gap. Together, we can enhance mental well-being and improve quality of life for senior citizens.
“We extend our gratitude to Delta Corporation and Santé 24 Medical Centre Southerton for their generous support in making this event possible,” Liz said.
“As we navigate the complexities of life, it is easy to forget that our mental health is just as important as our physical health. Let’s come together to support mental wellness among senior citizens. We look forward to seeing you at Vintage Vibes Family Fun Day!”
