ICT, Postal and Courier Services Minister Honourable Dr Tatenda Mavetera is in New Dehli, India attending the ITU World Telecommunications Standardization Assembly 2024.
The assembly began Monday with the Global Standards Symposium which was attended by Doreen Bogdan-Martin the ITU Secretary General, Mr Seizo Onoe the ITU Director Telecommunications Standards, Dr Cosmas Zavazava the ITU Director Telecommunication Development Bureau as well as Mario Maniewicz ITU Director Radiocommunication Bureau.
The global symposium will deal with various issues including Artificial Intelligence.
The WTSA24 will deal with standards affecting digital inclusion in the telecommunications sector such as the impact of 5G and the transformative power of standardized innovation.
The WTSA will be officially opened tomorrow by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi.
Zimbabwe is expected to contribute to the discussions on various standards and to also learn how other nations are regulating disruptive technologies such as Artificial Intelligence with Zimbabwe already working on coming up with an Artificial Intelligence Policy. The WTSA meets once in every four years.
Hon Mavetera follows proceedings at the ITU Global Standards Symposium alongside POTRAZ Deputy Director General Mr Alfred Marisa.
