Bonaqua Africa Triathlon Cup Troutbeck director Rick Fulton says this year’s event was adversely affected by cholera outbreak in Zimbabwe and the region.
In launching the 2024 edition, Fulton said this year’s event could have attracted some of the biggest names from around the world were it not for cholera outbreak.
Fulton said they couldn’t get as many athletes as they would have wanted due to cholera outbreak not just in Zimbabwe but in the region.
“Obviously we wanted a number of elite athletes to come as in the previous years but unfortunately due to cholera that hasn’t been the case this year. So, we have about 14 countries coming back,” Fulton said.
