Cimas Medical Aid Society through their iGO wellness programme has thrown its weight behind Bonaqua Africa Triathlon Cup 2024 edition scheduled for 17 February at the serene Troutbeck resort in Nyanga.
Speaking at the launch of 2024 edition Wednesday, Cimas chief marketing officer Tatenda Madzikanda said they were proud and privileged to be part of the Bonaqua Africa Triathlon Cup.
“We have been a key sponsor for the past six years. We have ensured that each year without fail, we field two teams to participate in this event.
“For us the Triathlon Cup resonate well with Our purpose to inspire healthier communities by providing global standard health and wellness solutions,” Madzikanda said.
She said the iGO brand was launched by Cimas in 2016 focusing on preventive health and lifestyle modification.
“We encourage our members to focus on key health behaviours such as:
- Participating in physical activities and
- Improving eating habits
“The benefits include but not limited to reduced healthcare costs, a healthy, quality, long life and a productive work force,” she said.
She said as sponsors they were committed to ensuring the event grow bigger and better.
“This is a good example of cooperation of likeminded companies, coming together to support sport, which is a critical activity in our community especially in an environment where we are battling mental health issues and non-communicable diseases which are typically caused by unhealthy behaviors
“I trust we will be able as industry and commerce to support the Ministry on other sporting initiatives in the country,” she said.
She commended the role played by Triathlon Zimbabwe in putting together the event saying it is always well planned and executed.
The sentiment was also reiterated by Sports, Arts Recreation & Culture Minister, Dr Kirsty Coventry.
