Midlands group 911 scooped Chibuku Road To Fame top prize of US$15000 beating other groups from nine provinces at a contest held for the first time at Takashinga Cricket Club in Highfield.
The Afro-jazz group was way ahead of competition to clinch a recording contract and of course the prize money.
In second position was High 5, an Afro-fusion outfit from Mashonaland province which got US$10000 for their efforts.
And the second runner up was Kweseka from Mateleland North province who won US$7000.
While the groups battled it out on stage it was the after-party that was the cherry on top.
Musician Alick Macheso proved to all and sundry that he was the firm favourite on the night that was rich in spills and thrills.
Other performing artists included Tocky Vibes, Feli Nandi, Bazooker, Jah Master, Ndunge Yut and Grade 2D band.
The 2023 edition of Chibuku Road to Fame ran from 9 September to 14 October 2023, under the theme, “Imba Tinzwe, Cula Sizwe Super Star!”
The edition was the first one to include popular genres such as Zim dancehall and Hip-hop, a good development in the music industry.
Organized by Delta Beverages in conjunction with the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe wo identify and nurture artists, Chibuku Road to Fame is the longest running talent search in Zimbabwe.
The music talent identification platform allows up-coming artists to step into stardom as they begin their musical journey.
