Some 31 members of the Zimbabwe Association of the Visually Handicapped (ZAVH) on Friday were issued with certificates after completing their Basic Digital Skills Training Program in Masvingo.
The weeklong workshop was organized by Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) and facilitated by the Internet Society (Zimbabwe Chapter).
In closing remarks by POTRAZ Director General, Dr Gift Machengete read on his behalf by Deputy director USF Postal and Courier Services Mr Tichafa Mujuru, he said they were happy with the diverse and enthusiastic group of participants.
“As we draw the curtains on this transformative workshop, we cannot help but feel a profound sense of accomplishment and gratitude. Today, we celebrate not only the skills gained but also the spirit of collaboration and inclusivity that has marked this journey,” he said.
“This workshop has been a remarkable experience, and it has been an honour to witness the dedication and enthusiasm of all our participants.
“It is gratifying to note that the whole of Masvingo Province is represented at this workshop as we have participants from Masvingo Urban, Masvingo Rural, Zaka, Mwenezi, Gutu, Chiredzi, Chivi and Bikita districts. “
The workshop covered a wide range of topics, from digital literacy basics to more advanced skills, empowering you with the tools to navigate the digital landscape confidently.
“In today’s fast-paced, technology-driven society, digital skills have become not just a convenience, but a fundamental necessity. The ability to navigate the digital world is no longer a luxury; it is a fundamental requirement for personal, professional, and societal growth. Whether you are a student, a professional, a business owner, or simply someone who wants to stay connected with the ever-changing digital world, we believe this workshop provided you with the valuable skills to navigate the digital landscape,” he said.
He said the training program was conceived not only with the goal of enhancing digital literacy but also with a profound commitment to inclusivity.
“Our aim is to ensure that all the people of Zimbabwe have equal access to the digital world, recognizing that technology has the power to break down barriers and empower individuals to reach their fullest potential, regardless of their abilities,” he said.
