Rapper Holy Ten was on Saturday beaten to it by Zim dancehall star Winky D following his win at the National Arts Merit Awards in Bulawayo at the weekend.
Saintfloew, Holy Ten, Enzo Ishall and Winky D were up for coveted category judged by popularity demand —People’s Choice Award — and the Gafa President emerged the winner.
The latest NAMA for Winky D proved and all and sundry that he was indeed the popular artist contrary to claims by Holy Ten that he was now a spent force.
Social media followers have been following the tiff between Holy Ten and Winky D which emanated from their collabo iBotso off his latest album Eureka Eureka!
When the single hit the street Holy Ten came out saying he was duped to record the song which criticized the gross corruption by the politically connected elites.
But the betrayl by Holy Ten came as no surprise as he was rallying support of President Mnangagwa’s re-election ahead of the 23-24 August 2023 harmonised elections.
In fact, Holy Ten has become a praise singer of note after being gifted a Range Rover Sport by the powers’-that be.
In one of the podcasted interview on the online Denny J Show, Holy Ten openly declared he “wanted to finish Winky D.”
The statement meant that Holy Ten had ambitions of ending Winky D’s career.
That said, Winky D on the other hand is largely seen as anti-establishment whose lyrics are critical of government’s policies.
So by putting the two musicians in same category where the listeners/viewers have to vote for the favourite musician it meant to lay bare the most popular musician in the country.
Sadly for Holy Ten it was Winky D the favourite artist.
