HARARE – “Technology must not divide generations. It must connect them,” NetOne Group Chief Executive Officer, Engineer Raphael Mushanawani, declared yesterday at the Vision 2030 Intergenerational Dialogue Summit.
Addressing a high-level audience including Vice President Dr. Kembo Mohadi, cabinet ministers, and youth leaders, Mushanawani positioned NetOne as the core enabler of Zimbabwe’s digital transformation.
He detailed how the company is building “digital bridges” to harness the wisdom of older generations and the innovation of the young.
“The older generation brings wisdom and institutional memory. The younger generation brings innovation and agility,” he told the summit.
“Our responsibility as NetOne is to create the digital bridges that make this exchange seamless, productive, and sustainable.”
The CEO spotlighted concrete initiatives where this philosophy comes to life:
Skills for the Future: Strategic partnerships with tertiary institutions to “catch them young” and train future innovators, developers, and data scientists.
Sector Transformation: Using connectivity to empower young farmers with smart agriculture tools and students in rural areas with e-learning access.
Social Responsibility: Leveraging digital platforms to support national campaigns against drug and substance abuse.
Mushanawani also highlighted NetOne’s work in enabling innovation in mining through digital solutions for claim management and responsible resource exploration.
“We are deploying the foundation of digital infrastructure that will carry the next generation into the future they deserve,” Mushanawani said, reaffirming NetOne’s role as a national partner in achieving the Vision 2030 agenda.
