Following a ‘PL GOATs African XI’ special on SuperSport’s Premier League channel in late March, online voting – at www.supersport/africaxi – has been brisk ahead of the May 25 deadline, after which the greatest XI will be announced at a gala dinner in Lagos.
SuperSport’s support of the campaign, which celebrates 30 years of the Premier League, includes a wealth of vibrant weekly content that serves to remind viewers of the greatness of many of the contenders for the African Premier League XI.
We’ve already looked at the ‘Best of Midfielders’, focusing on the likes of Sulley Muntari and Yaya Toure, the man they called ‘The Human Train’, who won three Premier League titles with Manchester City.
Sadio Mane‘s ‘Magic Minute’ will spotlight the remarkable Senegalese forward, who played almost 200 matches for Liverpool, on Tuesday 9 May, followed a day later by a focus on Kelechi Iheanacho, the Leicester City forward who hails from Nigeria.
A focus on further stars will arrive ahead of the May 25 deadline, providing fans the chance to evaluate and consider their selections… or perhaps argue with one another about who should make the cut!
