Zim dancehall singer Van Choga is up for Vote in Peace Campaign set for Caledonia at Wenera Shopping Centre on 9 August 2023.
The event is put together by Zimbabwe Election Support Network, a coalition of 37 none-governmental organisations formed in 2000 to co-ordinate activities related to the promotion of democratic processes, particularly free and fair elections.
It was established to standardise civil society’s approach to election-related methodology in Zimbabwe as well as to ensure wider geographical coverage and co-ordination of activities.
According to ZESN, the event has already been cleared by the Zimbabwe Republic Police.
For those not able to attend the event will be broadcast to a wider audience on ZiFM Stereo based in Harare.
The programme launch runs from 1200 hours to 1700 hours.
And Van Choga of the Vakomana vekwaMudzviti fame will be ably supported by Wasu Dakota and Reken Power.
Known for his energy sapping performances, Van Choga will be out in full force to entertain the crowd that will gather to civic and voter education.
Van Choga’s act was first misunderstood by a good number of critics and analysts alike, however, it dawned on many that his art was different and unique.
Even his delivery, makes him weird although he does it all in the name of entertaining his fans.
Love or hate him, Van Choga is uniquely talented and good at what he does on stage.
Besides Van Choga, other musicians who performed at Vote in Peace Campaigns are Killer T and Madiz
At least 11 presidential candidates including incumbent President Mnangagwa of Zanu PF, Citizens’ Coalition for Change leader Nelson Chamisa, and Elizabeth Valerio are participating. Apprentely, Valerio is the only female presidential candidate.
Douglas Mwonzora of the Movement for Democratic Change has just withdrawn his candidature.
