In the UEL, Sevilla will have home advantage at Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan against Juventus
for the second leg of their semifinal, with the Spanish side looking to keep up their excellent
record in the competition.
“We do believe and we are dreaming – we are in the semifinals and anything can happen at this
stage. We’re playing a great opponent – Juventus are a historic club with great players, but we
know the quality we have and how special this competition is,” said Sevilla’s Fernando.
Bayer Leverkusen will also be looking to end Jose Mourinho’s dream of leading Roma to successive
European trophies when they host the Italian side in Germany.
“We are focused on the semifinals and are looking forward to preparing well. The energy is good. Being in the semifinals is great, but once you get there you want more. We will do everything to win,” said Bayer manager Xabi Alonso.
In the UECL, Basel and AZ Alkmaar will have home advantage for the second legs against
Fiorentina and West Ham United respectively, with all four teams striving to secure a spot in the final in Prague early next month.
“We’re ready for West Ham,” said AZ forward Jens Odgaard. “I feel like this season, this team, We’re capable of doing big things. I think it’s going to be a different kind of game in the next round, but we’re ready.”
Basel defender Kasim Nuhu noted, “We have belief in ourselves, you saw it in the quarterfinal
against Nice. Why can we not overcome Fiorentina? The final is something we are very capable of reaching, and we will fight for it all the way.”
