ZBC’s Classic263 reggae producer and presenter — Terrence Mapurisana —- affectionately known as the Radio Commissioner General or The Hotstepper presented what listeners rated as one of his the best reggae shows to date as he saluted his mentor the legendary reggae icon, Presenter, musician and producer Dennis Delroy Wilson who passed on last week.
The two hour program which was broadcast live and kicked off from 12noon to 2pm was well received, judging by the comments on the Remembering Dennis Wilson WhatsApp platform by reggae pundits, family, and friends.
Many were reminded of the days when Dennis Wilson landed in Zimbabwe in 1982 at the invitation of Dr Obadiah Moyo aka Mighty Biscuit, a reggae fan in his own right.
Reggae fans from all over the world, including those in Jamaica, United Kingdom, Ghana, South Africa, Ethiopia, Italy, Zambia and The United States sent their condolence messages during the program.
Said Reggae Producer/Presenter Terrence Mapurisana, who is also the Station Manager: “It was proper for us as a Station Classic263 to pay tribute to a man who inspired a good number of us to be what we are today. I am glad listeners from all over the world loved the show, judging by comments from all our social media platforms.”
The reggae presenter also extended his appreciation to the entire listeners of Classic263 for their immense contribution and support towards the success of his reggae show which was also broadcast on a simulcast with Power FM.
Wilson died aged 66 after succumbing to Covid-19 and was buried at Warren Hills cemetery in Harare.
