The beats are calling, the faders are up, and the doors are wide open. On Saturday, 15 August 2026, the Sound & DJ Expo will transform the Archdiocese of Harare Jubilee Center into a vibrant hub of learning, rhythm and technical mastery.
Organized by Liz Dziva in partnership with Music Crossroads, this one-day workshop is designed to do one thing: give everyone — from curious beginners to seasoned professionals — the hands-on skills they need to thrive in the world of sound engineering and deejaying .
For Everyone
Whether you’re a DJ looking to refine your craft, a musician wanting to understand the sound that carries your art, an event planner seeking to elevate your productions, or a church media volunteer tired of feedback and muddy audio, this expo has something for you.
The lineup of participants reads like a who’s who of the events and entertainment industry: DJs, sound engineers, musicians, event planners, wedding planners, church media teams, venue owners, content creators, students — and members of the public who simply want to learn.
“Good sound makes every gathering better,” said Imbuwa Aongola, representative from Music Crossroads. “This workshop is about giving people practical knowledge they can immediately use while also building careers and raising industry standards.”

The Expo will deliver practical training across three core areas:
Sound Fundamentals — understanding acoustics and signal flow, the invisible architecture behind every great performance.
Buying The Right Gear — expert guidance on equipment selection for different budgets and event types, ensuring you invest wisely.
DJ Skills That Book Gigs — performance techniques, crowd reading, and the business of deejaying, turning passion into profession.
Meet the Mentors
Leading the charge are two of Zimbabwe’s most respected industry professionals.
Mark van Deventer began mixing at 14 and has since performed across Zimbabwe, Australia and the United States. After years balancing corporate work with music, he returned full-time to the industry in 2003 and now runs Sounds Vantastic Events.
His decades of experience in both club and corporate sound make him a sought-after mentor for technical excellence.
Shaku Chanté is one of Zimbabwe’s top DJs and a skilled sound engineer. She has delivered high-energy performances at major events including the Jacaranda Music Festival, Carpe Diem, Zambezi Larger BonFire, Oktoberfest, and Castle Tankard where she played for VIP guests. Her work has also taken her to Cape Town, South Africa and Lilongwe, Malawi. Built on values of hard work, professionalism, excellence and integrity, Shaku’s brand focuses on delivering exceptional service and inspiring the next generation of female DJs and engineers.

A Special Highlight
In a powerful gesture of inclusion, the Expo will also host St. Joseph’s House for Boys, home to orphaned and marginalized boys. Their participation underscores the event’s commitment to accessibility and opportunity.
“Events like this matter because they open up access to knowledge,” Dziva said. “Whether you are 16 or 60, whether you own equipment or are just curious, you deserve a chance to learn from people who are doing the work every day. And for boys from St. Joseph’s, we want them to see what’s possible and know the industry has space for them.”
