Harare buzzed with excitement on Thursday evening as the School of Public Speaking hosted its fourth Annual Graduation Ceremony, honoring the remarkable achievements of class of 2024.
This year, over 100 high school students from the esteemed Solid Rock Group of Schools, alongside adult professionals from various fields, proudly celebrated the successful culmination of their public speaking training.
Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Mashonaland East Dr Aplonia Munzverengwi was the guest of honour at the event.
Dr Munzverengwi passionately encouraged the graduates, particularly the women, to aim for greater heights in their personal and professional journeys.
“As women, we must continue to break barriers and seize opportunities that allow us to lead and inspire. Public speaking is one such tool that empowers us to communicate effectively, build confidence, and shape narratives that contribute to national development,” she said.
“To all the women graduating today, let this be the beginning of a transformative journey—use your voices to tell your stories, challenge stereotypes, and inspire others to achieve the extraordinary,” Dr Munzverengwi added.
This event not only celebrated oratory excellence but also underscored the significance of public speaking as an invaluable life skill.
The director of Solid Rock Group of Schools, Dr Doreen Makande, beamed with pride as she addressed the accomplishments of the 100 high school students who completed their training under the mentorship of Dr Blessing Mandipira, the founder of the School of Public Speaking.
“For me, the importance of public speaking lies in the confidence it instills in young people. When I see a young girl who is confident and can stand her ground, I know she is ready to take on the world. Today, I am so proud of our students who have come this far. I can foresee a brighter future for them, and I am grateful to the Almighty for this opportunity,” Mrs Makande expressed, highlighting the transformative impact of the program.
The School of Public Speaking, established by Dr Blessing Mandipira—a former gardener turned author and motivational speaker—has swiftly become a beacon of excellence in Zimbabwe.
His journey, chronicled in his book From Gardener to Motivator, serves as a powerful source of inspiration for many aspiring public speakers.
Dr Mandipira’s unwavering dedication to empowering individuals with vital communication skills has made a significant impact on the development of human capital in the country, fostering a new generation of confident and articulate leaders.
