Choreographer, dancer and actress — Melody Musekiwa — popularly known as Mama Chocolate on stage who died last week was laid to rest at Zororo Memorial Park Tuesday. She was 34.
Mama Chocalate also Roki’s baby mama died after a kidney failure in Harare plunging the music sector into mourning.
Among the mourners at the burial were musicians Roki, Brown Sugar, Discord and music producer Oskid.
Fellow musician and friend Enersto Manandi took to his Facebook page and wrote: “We laid you to rest yesterday (Tuesday), although words still fail not only me. We have more questions than answers, but above all, pain. Through the years funny enough it would be you with advice on life matters. You will be missed deeply . . . Zorora mumwe wangu . . . Zorora. #FemaleBhuru #MamaChocolate”
Previously in an interview with Gem Nation News, Mama Chocolate opened up and had kind words for Roki.
She said she was happy with the support she was getting from her baby daddy and was doing her best to raise her five-year-old daughter — Dawn Chiedza Ava Josphats.
“Well I can’t say I’m a single mom per se because his family is highly involved in the raising of our little one.
“And yes, Roki is very much involved in the raising of the child,” she said.
Mama Chocolate was into marketing said she was working with several artists and companies including running her clothing line to try and make earns meet.
A great dancer she was Mama Chocolate would teach dance while also recording her music alongside producer TakeFizzle.
It was around 2007 when Roki then Rocqui dropped his chart topper Chidzoka that Mama Chocolate was introduced as part of his backing group.
The petite dancer rocked the dance floor like no man’s business gyrating way before it was called twerking.
It was not long before Roki who was smarting away from his estranged wife Pauline aka Mai Sky enjoyed romance on and off stage with Mama Chocolate.
Mama Chocolate added that spark in Roki’s performance so much so that they were a formidable force during the urban Grooves golden era.
