SuperSport, the biggest sports broadcaster in Africa, brings viewers on DStv all the action from the Genesis Scottish Open, live from the Renaissance Club in North Berwick from Thursday 11 to Sunday 14 July 2024.
DStv is the ultimate destination for Golf fans, with an unparalleled selection of action from around the world. DStv Stream also allows viewers to watch their favourite golf players live anywhere, any time.
Co-sanctioned by the PGA Tour and the DP World [European] Tour, the Scottish Open was first played in 1972 and is often viewed as a key event for those heading to The Open Championship – which is played the following week. It is also the final qualifying event for that Major
Championship, with players scrambling to put in a good showing to ensure they will make the grade for the final golf Major of the year.
The reigning champion is Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy, who finished one stroke clear of Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre in the 2023 edition to win the tournament for the first time in his career.
“It was special to win the Genesis Scottish Open for the first time last season. Winning a national open is always notable, and to do it in the home of golf, with such great support from the Scottish fans, made it a memorable week,” said McIlroy, who will return to the Renaissance club to defend his title.
The field will also feature Matt Fitzpatrick, Justin Rose, Justin Thomas, Tommy Fleetwood, Viktor Hovland, Xander Schauffele, MacIntyre, Tom Kim, Wyndham Clark and Collin Morikawa.
Clark said, “I’ve enjoyed teeing it up at the Genesis Scottish Open over the past few years and I’m looking forward to coming back to the Renaissance Club as part of what could be an exciting summer in Europe.”
Morikawa added: “I’m looking forward to coming back to Scotland for what will be an exciting two weeks this summer. I learned a lot on my first appearance at the Genesis Scottish Open that I was able to take forward to The Open, and I would love to have a great two weeks in front of the Scottish fans this July.”
The Renaissance Club features a 7237-yard par 70 links course, and the purse for the Genesis Scottish Open is US$9million.
