It doesn’t happen often—Zimbabwean musicians sharing the international stage with African giants. But for Oriyano and Tamy Moyo, that moment is about to become reality.
The two homegrown acts have been tapped to appear on the same bill as Nigerian superstar Davido on May 2 at the Showgrounds Polo Field in Lusaka, Zambia. And for Oriyano, it’s nothing short of a dream come true.
The “Seleta” singer, riding high on a wave of club anthems and collaborations, took to Facebook to pour out his gratitude—and get a little personal.
“I wish my Father was alive, to witness his son’s prime glory,” he wrote. “Great News alert! 02 May. Our own Zim-Kompa King Oriyano will be sharing same stage with Davido alongside Tamy Moyo.”
In a heartfelt post, he gave thanks to the Almighty, his family, and his mother’s prayers, while shouting out the loyal Seleta nation for standing by him.
He also tipped his hat to his management team and the event organisers—go_betweens_events, amigos_events, and Bplatinum—for making the moment possible.
“Zambia, see you when you see me,” he signed off.
Oriyano has been steadily climbing, stacking hit after hit and linking up with heavy hitters like Poptain, Nyasha David, Master H, Hwinza, and Jnr Spragga. His catalogue is pure energy—a collection of bangers tailor-made for the stage.
With a strong Zimbabwean student presence in Zambia, the crowd is bound to show up loud and proud.
Come May 2, Oriyano and Tamy Moyo won’t just be warming up the stage for Davido—they’ll be flying the flag.
