Chinhoyi – Zimbabwe’s Health and Child Care Minister, Dr Douglas Mombeshora, has reassured the nation that there is no shortage of antiretroviral (ARV) medication, emphasizing the country’s preparedness to support people living with HIV.
“I want to assure all Zimbabweans that our health system is equipped and ready to provide treatment and support to those affected by HIV,” Dr Mombeshora said during a National AIDS Council (NAC) media workshop held today.
He stressed the importance of sustained efforts in reducing new HIV infections and AIDS-related deaths, urging stakeholders not to become complacent despite the progress made.
“While we have achieved a lot in the fight against HIV/AIDS, there’s still more to be done. We must protect and build on our gains,” he said, calling for continued collaboration across sectors to strengthen Zimbabwe’s HIV/AIDS response.
The two-day workshop brought together journalists and health sector leaders to discuss key issues surrounding HIV/AIDS.
Dr. Mombeshora expressed hope that the media would continue to play a pivotal role in raising awareness and spreading accurate information to the public.
As Zimbabwe continues to tackle the challenges of the HIV/AIDS pandemic, the minister’s message serves as a call to unity, vigilance, and sustained action to safeguard public health.
