One of Zimbabwe’s upcoming musicians — Chillmaster, Nisha Ts or Young Gemini stands a chance to perform live in Germany in July 2025.
This is part of a deal between National Arts Merit Awards and Moto Moto Festival in Cologne, Germany.
NAMA director Tinashe Kitchen announced that this year’s winner of the Outstanding Breakthrough Artist (music) will be afforded an all-expense paid trip to the Moto Moto Festival to be held in July 2025.
“The nominees for this year’s NAMA Outstanding Breakthrough Artist are: Nisha Ts, Chillmaster and Young Gemini
“The winner will be announced at the awards ceremony to be held on the 1st of March, 2025 at the Harare Hippodrome,” Kitchen said.
“NAMA is excited to welcome this new partnership, and looks forward to providing more platforms for young artists to experience international events of this stature.”
Plot Mhako who represents Moto Moto Festival explained why they chose the Outstanding Breakthrough Artist (Music).
“We selected the Outstanding Breakthrough Artist (Music) winner because this category represents emerging talent—artists who are at a crucial stage in their careers and would benefit significantly from international exposure.
“The Moto Moto Festival provides an ideal platform for a rising artist to showcase their music to a global audience, network with industry professionals, and gain valuable experience performing on an international stage,” Mhako said.
Mhako said by giving the opportunity to a breakthrough artist Moto Moto Festival were in fact, investing in the future of Zimbabwean music.
“Ensuring that fresh talent gets the recognition and support needed to make a lasting impact in the industry,” he said.
