HARARE — Thirty years ago, connectivity was about making calls and sending messages. Today, it is about accessing education, running businesses, and connecting families.
And to mark three decades of keeping Zimbabwe connected, NetOne is giving customers something they can actually use — more data for less money.
The state-owned mobile network operator has launched 30ForYou Mogigs, a limited-edition data bundle that offers a staggering 60GB for just US$30 — valid for 30 days.
The package includes 30GB of anytime data and an additional 30GB of off-peak data, effectively doubling what customers would typically get for the same price.
The offer, which runs while stocks last, is NetOne‘s way of saying thank you to the millions of Zimbabweans who have been part of its journey from a fledgling telecoms provider to a key player in the country’s digital transformation.
More Than Just a Birthday Gift
For NetOne, the 30ForYou bundle is not merely an anniversary promotion. It is a statement of intent.
“Thirty years ago, NetOne helped Zimbabwe make the connection,” the company said in a statement. “Today, the opportunity is to make that connection do more.”
The timing is significant. Zimbabwe is grappling with high data costs that have placed connectivity out of reach for many households. According to recent industry reports, mobile data prices in the country remain among the highest in the region, limiting access to digital services for millions of citizens.
NetOne’s 60GB offer undercuts many existing data packages on the market. For context, competing networks typically charge between US$25 and US$35 for 20GB to 30GB of data over a 30-day period. The 30ForYou bundle offers double that volume at a comparable price point.
What 60GB Actually Means
For the average user, 60GB opens up a world of possibilities:
Streaming: Approximately 120 hours of standard-definition video
Social media: Unlimited scrolling, posting, and messaging for a full month
Video calls: Over 150 hours of WhatsApp or Zoom calls
Music streaming: Roughly 15,000 songs on platforms like Spotify or YouTube Music
Online learning: Hundreds of hours of e-learning content, research, and course materials
The additional off-peak data further sweetens the deal, allowing customers to download large files, stream content, and update applications during quieter network hours without eating into their primary data allocation.
Customer Reactions
Early reactions on social media have been largely positive, with many customers expressing excitement about the value proposition.
“This is what we’ve been waiting for,” wrote one user on X (formerly Twitter). “60GB for $30 is game-changing. Well done, NetOne.”
Another commented: “Finally, a data bundle that makes sense for students. We can actually attend online lectures without worrying about running out of data mid-class.”
However, some customers raised questions about the off-peak hours and whether the offer is truly available to all users or limited to specific regions.
A Strategic Move
Industry analysts view the 30ForYou bundle as a strategic play by NetOne to capture market share in an increasingly competitive telecommunications landscape.
“NetOne is positioning itself as the people’s network — affordable, accessible, and focused on real needs,” said one telecoms analyst who spoke on condition of anonymity. “This offer is about more than data. It’s about telling Zimbabweans that NetOne understands their financial realities.”
The move also aligns with the government’s broader digital inclusion agenda under the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2) and Vision 2030, which prioritises universal access to digital services as a driver of economic growth.

Customers can purchase the 30ForYou bundle through the MyNetOne mobile app, USSD codes, or at NetOne retail outlets nationwide. The offer is available to both prepaid and postpaid customers.
