NetOne, Zimbabwe’s leading digital solutions mobile network operator joined the rest of the nation in clean-up campaign of its environs in Kopje.

Some 30 employees clad in their corporate colours were seen busy with brooms and bin liners to ensure a clean environment which is heavily polluted by litter bugs and commuter omnibuses.

The NetOne employees led by the vivacious, Roselyn Chisveto, Head marketing and public relations and Chipo Muziri, from PR were also joined by representatives from Environmental Management Agency (EMA), Harare City Council representatives and media.

NetOne general manager Learnmore Musunda said the clean-up campaign was in aid of government’s effort in creating a clean and safe work environment.

“The national clean-up campaign involves all our NetOne offices and also everywhere where we operate. Right no as I speak, all our offices in Masvingo, Bulawayo, Beitbridge, Gweru, Kwekwe and others are actually participating in this initiative” he said.

“This initiative is actually supporting government’s drive towards cleaning our local environment. So, we are actually supporting government as you are aware that every first Friday of each month, government gave instruction for citizens to clean up where they live and work, so this is what we are doing,” Musunda stressed.

Musunda said they were also working with EMA in order to avoid land degradation.

“As you are aware that we have base stations countrywide we are embarking on projects to conserve the environment in terms of land degradation. Also we want to use solar energy on our base stations as to safe guard the environment,” he said.
