Zvimba — A delegation from Namibia’s Kavango East Region is currently in Zimbabwe to participate in the Mashonaland West Province Agriculture Show and explore trade opportunities under a provincial twinning initiative.

Led by Governor Hambyuka Julius Hamunyeara, the delegation expressed admiration for Zimbabwe’s strides in agriculture during a visit to Combe Farm in Zvimba North Constituency.

The farm, owned by Ephraim Pasipanodya, showcases a 300-hectare winter wheat crop under irrigation.

Parliamentarians and local councilors in the delegation commended Pasipanodya for his role in Zimbabwe’s ongoing agricultural transformation.

“Seeing the agricultural progress here firsthand is inspiring. We are eager to replicate such success back home,” said Governor Hamunyeara.

He emphasized that agriculture remains a cornerstone of their twinning agreement, aimed at fostering mutual development between the two provinces.

Governor Hamunyeara also revealed plans to establish an agricultural college in Kavango East, drawing inspiration from Zimbabwe’s agricultural education model.

During the visit, Pasipanodya shared the evolution of his farm—from humble beginnings on five hectares to now cultivating over 500 hectares of maize, tobacco, and wheat.

“I owe much of this success to the strong support received from the government,” Pasipanodya said, reflecting on his farming journey.

The Namibian delegation also paid a courtesy call on the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Hon. Marian Chombo.

The meeting focused on expanding collaboration across various sectors.
