As most Zimbabweans still grapple with the lockdown due to the novel virus — Covid-19 — there seems to be more cases of Gender based violence on the rise as well as alcohol and sexual abuse within communities.
This is reflected in today’s Chipo The Gift episode 4 on ZBCTV starting at 7:30pm supported by Rooftop Promotions and Oxfam.
Directed by Nakai Tsuro, today’s episode will see Chipo being thrown out of her aunt’s house after she had one too many with her uncle who later sexually abuse her.
She is traumatized and she decides to live in with her boyfriend Spencer.
Already, she left her aunt in misery as she and her husband are now not on talking terms since the beer binge.
Another highlight in this week’s episode is the issue of hunger as people are no longer going to work. The informal sector income streams have been cut.
Elsewhere in the community, people are continuing to gather for traditional events despite a ban on social gatherings either at church or at homes defying the social distancing restrictions as part of measures by Government to combat the spread of Covid-19.
Gender based violence is rife with families closed in and outside help, information and justice seemingly inaccessible. What about Mapfumo Katsaya who played the role of Ndoro right from the first season?
He has been handling the production with his management skills as the production manager for the whole season. Gamuchirai Mukwakwami continues with her role as Chipo, you should be remembering her boyfriend Spencer.
Another actress worth mentioning is Eunice Tava whose acting skills leave viewers spellbound since her days as stage actress.
