Legendary radio personality John Matinde made a welcome return to Zimbabwean radio at the weekend.
The pioneering and consummate presenter guested on Flowtymeradio Sunday Takeover on the popular programme Roller Skating Jam hosted by George Munetsi.
Of course, the Boss as Matinde used to be known on the then Radio 3, played a couple of songs proving to all and sundry that he still has the magic.
Indeed, The Boss brought some fond memories of the past 30 years since he left Radio 3.
What a flawless presentation it was and Oh by the way, he effortlessly delivered in fluent English just the way he used to hold it down back in the day.
Just before Matinde took to the decks, George Munetsi had teased listeners as to who would feature on the show and boy oh boy little did we know he was bringing his former boss.
Both George and Otis were at a loss of words to describe their elation to play alongside Matinde.
George described Matinde as a “consummate presenter” while Otis said it was an honour to have the “expensive” boss on the show.
And as has become the norm George Munetsi played all the RnB hits from the 90s era adding his own flair delighting the listeners.
Sadly, time is always a killer and before we knew, it was time to hand over to Otis The Flow Fraser to put the cherry to a three-hour show that you cannot afford to move a muscle.
Sundays have become the hottest days on Capitalk 100.4 FM as it has lined up sought-after radio presenters/DJs.
It is literally a tight package from 9am CAT when Donald The Main Attraction straight out of the US drops the soothing classics from RnB to Hip-hop before passing on the baton to George Munetsi who broadcasts from Johannesburg.
George kicks off his show at 10am for an hour dropping non-stop phat beats and Otis puts the icing and cherry on top with mix after mix on the Ozone. Repeat of the show is available on www.flowttymeradio.com
The authenticity of the show is how most people used to know radio back then and it doesn’t get any better than this as Kelvin Soul Supreme takes over from 12noon before he leaves for Comfort Mbofana.
The one good thing is Matinde will be back next week stay tuned!
