ICT, Postal and Courier Services Minister Dr Tatenda Mavetera says inadequate investment and digital skills leave many countries struggling to keep up with the rapid pace of technological advancement.
In line with these efforts to promote digital inclusion Dr Mavetera launched a community information centre for use by the Madziwa community.
“This centre is Madziwa’s access point to the digital landscape as we aim to fulfill President ED Mnangagwa’s vision to leave no one and no place behind,” Dr Mavetera said.
“It is imperative that the local community not only utilises this facility but that the community also plays its collective part in protecting this infrastructure from vandalism.”
The 2024 World Telecommunication and Information Society Day under the theme “Digital Innovation for Sustainable Development“.
This year focuses on the power of digital innovation in advancing sustainable development and prosperity for all underscores the critical role that technology plays in shaping our future.
This day holds significance as it marks the founding on 17 May 1865, of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), which is the United Nations Specialized Agency for Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs).
