Some children suffering from cancer and blood related disorders received some goodies from Schweppes Zimbabwe Limited to lighten up their Easter Holidays.
Schweppes Zimbabwe Limited working with KidzCan, a humanitarian child-centered Private Voluntary Organisation dedicated to increasing the survival rate of children suffering from cancer, Wednesday donated some juices, bonaqua water hampers and toys to the children at Parirenyatwa Ward A4 Special.
Speaking at the handover of the goodies, Ropafadzo Gwanetsa, Schweppes Zimbabwe Limited Corporate Affairs Executive, said through their decade long relationship with KidzCan they were delighted to put a smile to the children through their small donation.
“For us cancer is really a big deal and through this small donation we hope it will put a smile on the children during this Easter. We have been supporting children living with cancer through our relationship with KidzCan for over a decade now,” Gwanetsa said.
Oncology and Palliative Care nurse at Parirenyatwa Hospital Patience Fungai Mareyanadzo commended Schweppes Zimbabwe Limited for their continued support.
She said the donations would go a long way in cheering up the children during Easter Holiday.
“Cancer involves the emotions too much so even the children they get emotional but we always want them to be happy, so while we can’t not treat as the public, you can always touch them, they will feel that someone is thinking of us and someone loves us. That love it goes a long way in getting them well,” she said.
KidzCan fundraising head Pamela Makanjera also hailed Schweppes Zimbabwe Limited for the support over the years.
Prescious Chitakarita, a mother with a girl aged four living with cancer said besides the medication shortages she was happy that her child was taken care of.
She said the donation would ensure her child had the required nutrients as a cancer patient.
