EBWA Set for 4th Annual Great Get-Together Book Launch

In a vibrant celebration of literature and creativity, the Essential Books Writers Association (EBWA) is gearing up for its 4th annual Great Get-Together Book Launch, happening this Friday at Africa Unity Square in Harare.

 This event promises to be a premier gathering of writers, book enthusiasts, and the general public, providing a unique platform for local writers to showcase their works and connect with readers.

The book launch event will take place on November 28th, 2025 from 0900hrs to 1400hrs and the event will feature a range of new book launches, including titles by Pamela Phiri, Jean Botso, Aleck Kaposa, and other notable authors. Subscription to the event will be USD15.

Established with the aim of promoting local literature and fostering a love for reading, EBWA has been instrumental in nurturing a community of writers and book lovers in Zimbabwe.

The association’s annual book launch has become a highly anticipated event, offering a space for writers to share their ideas, collaborate, and contribute to the country’s socio-economic development through the power of literature.

The event promises to be an exciting and engaging experience, with a range of activities lined up, including readings, spoken word poetry, book launches, book sales, and exchanges.

The atmosphere is expected to be electric, with a photoshoot lineup and a writers’ lunch and drinks providing ample opportunities for networking and socializing.

In an interview with EBWA chairperson Aleck Kaposa, he said all was set for the get together book launch and they were thrilled to host this year’s edition.

“We are thrilled to host the 4th annual Great Get-Together Book Launch, a celebration of our members’ hard work and dedication to their craft,” said Aleck Kaposa.

“This event is more than just a book launch; it’s a gathering of like-minded individuals who share a passion for literature and a desire to promote Zimbabwean writing. We invite everyone to come and join us as we celebrate the power of words and the impact they have on our society,” he said.

The association’s efforts to promote local writers’ works have been recognized, with EBWA registering with the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe.

This achievement is a proof to the organisation’s commitment to promoting Zimbabwean literature and fostering a culture of reading.

According to Kaposa, the event’s Guest of Honour will be Brian Garusa of Book Fantastics, adding to the excitement and prestige of the occasion and according to Kaposa Some of the books to be launched are Mazwi Matete by Pamela Phiri and other writers, Echoes of the Overlooked by Pamela Phiri and other writers, The Exciting Story of Chipo the Bird by Jean Botso,  The Amazing Story of Shamiso’ by Jean Botso, The New Dance and other Christmas Stories by Aleck Kaposa and other writers, Mvuu by Chengetai Nyagumbo (Dr Amai), Mhidigori dzeMashoko by Herbert Chiweshe and other writers, Yawning Echoes by Herbert Chiweshe and other writers, The Direction of My Pen by Lukas Junior Muchechetere, The Cartoonist by Hleko Vuma, Chakapa Mvuu Kugara Mumvura by Simbarashe Clever Kavenga,The Old Man and the Lions by Aleck Kaposa.
