No More Queues: Uganda Among Top Nations Benefiting from Zimbabwe’s Streamlined E-Visa System

In a significant boost to intra-African travel, Ugandan passport holders can now explore the wonders of Zimbabwe with remarkable ease, thanks to their placement in the most favourable category of the country’s recently enhanced electronic visa system.
Body: The bureaucratic hurdle of visa applications is often a major deterrent for spontaneous travel. Zimbabwe has moved decisively to remove this barrier, particularly for its African neighbors.
The Zimbabwean e-visa portal (www.evisa.gov.zw) categorizes countries into three tiers, with Ugandan nationals enjoying the benefits of Category A.
“This means Ugandan applicants experience a streamlined process with faster approval times,” clarifies Avril Chimedza of the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority.
“It’s a clear message of welcome and a recognition of the importance of the Ugandan travel market. We want people dreaming of Victoria Falls on Monday to be planning their trip with confidence by Friday.”
The user-friendly online system allows travelers to apply, pay, and receive their visa approval electronically before departure, eliminating uncertainty and long waits at port of entry.
This policy shift is part of a broader African trend towards visa liberalization to boost tourism and trade.
Kampala-based travel agent, Sarah Nalwoga, has already noticed the difference. “Before, clients were hesitant due to visa process stories.
Now, with the clear e-visa steps and Uganda’s Category A status, we’re packaging more Zimbabwe trips. It’s becoming as straightforward as booking a flight to Nairobi.”
This ease of access is expected to directly increase tourist traffic from Uganda, inviting more East Africans to experience Zimbabwe’s world-class attractions, from the majesty of the Falls to the ancient ruins of Great Zimbabwe.
