Harare – Delta Corporation Limited has celebrated the academic achievements of 12 graduates supported through the company’s Bursary Programme, reaffirming its commitment to education and the development of Zimbabwe’s future human capital.
The graduates were recognised at a sundowner event held last Friday as part of Delta Corporation’s broader Schools Assistance Programme.
The Class of 2026 comprises graduates from the University of Zimbabwe (UZ), Harare Institute of Technology (HIT) and National University of Science and Technology (NUST). Their fields of study include Medicine, Pharmacy, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Science, Actuarial Sciences, Spatial Planning and Management, Food Processing Technology, and Forensic Accounting and Auditing.
The 12 graduates represent part of a much wider investment by Delta Corporation in education. The company currently supports a total of 119 students through its bursary programme, comprising 71 university students and 48 A-Level students.
The programme reflects Delta Corporation’s belief that sustainable corporate investment should not only address immediate community needs but also build the knowledge, skills and capabilities required for long-term national development.
Speaking on the programme, Delta Corporation General Manager – Corporate Affairs, Patricia Murambinda, said:
“For us, this is about much more than providing bursaries. It is about creating opportunity and investing in human capability. Today, we are supporting 119 young people at university and A-Level, and each represents potential that can contribute to Zimbabwe’s future.
“Seeing members of this programme graduate in medicine, engineering, pharmacy, science, technology, planning and finance demonstrates what sustained investment in education can achieve.”
Delta Corporation regards education as an important pillar of sustainable community development.
Through the Schools Assistance Programme and related interventions, the company seeks to improve access to educational opportunities while contributing to the development of skills needed by the economy.
The diversity of the Class of 2026 also illustrates the multiplier effect of education.
Investment in an individual student has the potential to generate value well beyond that beneficiary as graduates apply their knowledge in healthcare, engineering, science, technology, industry, planning and financial services.
“A bursary may support one student, but the knowledge and skills developed through that opportunity can ultimately touch many more lives,” Murambinda added.
“A doctor serves patients and communities; an engineer helps build productive capacity; a scientist contributes solutions; and a financial professional helps strengthen institutions.
“ That is why we see these young people not simply as bursary beneficiaries, but as part of Zimbabwe’s emerging human capital.”
The company said the 71 university students and 48 A-Level students currently supported also represent an important pipeline of young talent at different stages of their educational journeys.
Delta Corporation congratulated the Class of 2026 and acknowledged the families, educational institutions, lecturers and other stakeholders who contributed to their development.
As the graduates transition into professional life, the company encouraged them to combine technical competence with integrity, resilience, continuous learning and service to society.
“Their qualifications represent an important milestone, but graduation is not the end of the journey,” Murambinda said.
“The greater measure of this investment will be what these young professionals do with the opportunities, knowledge and capabilities they have acquired, and the opportunities they in turn create for others.”
