Organisers of the much-anticipated National Cup Clash set for 23 December 2023 have upped the stakes for this year’s contest as the winner will drive away in a BMW.

The Cup Clash scheduled for the City Sports Centre is almost like a pilgrimage for as yet unknown Zim dancehall stars.

It is a melting pot for even established artists to stamp their authority to prove and show their music prowess.

It brings together only the best of the best in Zim dancehall as chanters, emcees and sounds from across the country on one stage.

Put together by Chipaz Promotions the ultimate prize is provided by P&M Motors, the leading BMW spare parts dealers.

Scores of participants have started registering for the Cup Clash with preliminary indications being that the show will be over subscribed.

According to Partson Chimbodza aka Chipaz, all seasoned artists are open to clash.

“For the first time we selling advance tickets from chicken in outlets in Harare,  Chitungwiza and Norton as well as Speke, Walk tall, Samora, Julias Nyerere, AMC, Showgrounds, 105, Eastgate, Five Avenue, Makoni Main, Machipisa, Gazzaland, Waterfalls, DZ, N Richard’s, Norton, Marimba, Pomona Main, UZ, Malberein, N1 and Mbare,” Chipaz said.

This means the stakes are even higher as some of the artists have already been there before.

The last time a Cup Clash was held it was during the Soul Jah Love-Seh Calaz era back in 2014 where the two musicians took the beef to the stage.

While the clash didn’t end well, it really brought out lasting impressions and memories between the two artists.

Both artists released diss songs after the clash and also boosted their fanbases.

There is a new crop of artists who are coming up in a big way and the Cup Clash really provides that platform to excel and shine.

So far, Silent Killer aka Ngwere has promised to set the stage on fire. In a promo video during the registration, he warmed of Kuf-Kaf, a short word for Kufa kana Kufenda (faint or die).

The word is taken off his latest single Kufa Kana Kufenda whc is doing well on the music scene.

A good number of musicians have produced new albums the likes of Freeman and Killer T.
