A disturbing incident unfolded in the early hours of Monday in Chinhoyi, leaving one person dead and another fighting for life.
The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Chinhoyi is currently investigating a murder and attempted murder case involving Phatisani Sibanda (23) and Ropafadzo Samkole.
According to reports, Sibanda allegedly attempted to rob Ropafadzo Samkole as she was returning from Varsity Blues Night Club with two friends around 4:30am.
In a violent confrontation, Sibanda stabbed Ropafadzo in the stomach, causing severe injuries, including protruding intestines. Ropafadzo screamed for help, attracting the attention of two unknown men who came to her rescue.
The two men attacked Sibanda, leaving him with severe injuries, including two deep stab wounds on the left thigh and a cut on the head.
Sibanda succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Ropafadzo was rushed to Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital for medical attention and is currently in serious condition.
A police report was made at ZRP Chemagamba by Emilia Tagarira, and the police attended the scene together with CID Chinhoyi.
The police observed that the deceased body was holding a broken empty beer bottle, and a porch of a Columbian knife was found in his trousers. The body was conveyed to Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
The police are appealing to anyone with information on the identity of the two men who attacked Sibanda to come forward and approach any nearest police station.
The police emphasize the importance of respecting the sanctity of life and discourage members of the public from taking the law into their own hands.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police encourages the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies to ensure justice is served.
The CID is working diligently to solve this case, and the police appreciate any information that may lead to the identification and prosecution of individuals involved in criminal activities.
