For Minister Tatenda Mavetera, NetOne’s 30-year milestone is not just about telecommunications dominance — it is about impact. At the NetOne at 30 Medical Outreach and Telemedicine Launch in Chikomba West, the ICT, Postal and Courier Services Minister applauded the mobile network operator for proving that connectivity can be a force for health, development, and social inclusion.
In partnership with ZimSmart Villages, NetOne is redefining what it means to connect Zimbabweans, taking essential healthcare to the doorsteps of those who need it most.
Delivering remarks on behalf of NetOne, Public Relations Manager Mr. Ernest Magadzire said the company’s approach to connectivity is firmly rooted in creating meaningful impact beyond telecommunications.
“At NetOne, we believe connectivity must translate into impact. A network is only as powerful as the opportunities, services and solutions it enables. That is why we are deliberately using our core strength — connectivity — to help bring healthcare closer to communities and to contribute meaningfully to national development.”
Mr. Magadzire said the initiative reflected NetOne’s evolving role as a telecommunications vanguard, leveraging digital technologies such as telemedicine to respond to pressing community needs.
“As we celebrate 30 years of connecting Zimbabwe, we are redefining what connectivity means. We are not simply connecting people to a network; we are connecting communities to healthcare, learners to knowledge, entrepreneurs to opportunity and citizens to services. This is the kind of meaningful connectivity that will drive the next chapter of NetOne,” he said.
The initiative combines free medical screenings, consultations and medicines with telemedicine, demonstrating how digital connectivity can bridge geographical barriers and expand access to healthcare expertise.
The programme aligns with His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Cde Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030, which places innovation, technology and inclusive development at the centre of building a modern, empowered and prosperous Zimbabwe.
NetOne also applauds Her Excellency, the First Lady, Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa, Patron of Health, for her unwavering commitment to advancing the health and wellbeing of Zimbabweans.
Through its Health and Care and Connecting Communities pillars, NetOne is demonstrating that telecommunications infrastructure can be a powerful enabler of social development.
