Sally Mugabe Hospital now has state-of-the art physiotherapy department courtesy of a donation of US$50 000.00 worth of equipment from Delta Corporation.
Until recently, patients were being referred to other health centers for services that the hospital was not able to provide due to lack of necessary tools of trade.
And the timely donation will see the hospital becoming a one stop for patients requiring Rehabilitation Services.
Speaking at the handover ceremony of Rehabilitation equipment Wednesday, Dr Christopher Pasi, the chief executive officer said the donation directly impacts the disadvantaged members of the community.
“We are extremely grateful because the donation directly impacts our department. Just briefly, the main objective of our department is to help our patients achieve the maximum possible level of functional independence in every aspect of their lives including return to work or school and an improved quality of life.
“We cater for patients with a wide range of health challenges including stroke, burns, orthopedic conditions, surgical conditions, medical conditions and mental illness.
“These different conditions require different treatment modalities and equipment in order for us to meet our goal of rehabilitating the patients we meet,” Dr Pasi said.
Some of the equipment donated include skeleton, massagers, muscle straightening posture, mirrors and warble boards to mention just a few.
Patricia Murambinda, Delta Corporation General Manager – Corporate Affairs, said the equipment would help improve mobility to patients referred to the physiotherapy department.
“The project is in line with our focused sustainability platform to give access to a healthier world in the communities where we operate in.
“As market leaders we have a responsibility to make a meaningful difference – to empower and protect the communities and the environment in which we operate,” she said.
“As I conclude I would like to thank Sally Mugabe Hospital for partnering with us to implement this noble initiative in Zimbabwe as we look forward to a robust partnership with you.
“I would also like to appreciate my colleagues from our health department within Delta for their support in this project and event.”
