HARARE — When gospel royalty shares the stage with rising stars and a brand-new hip-hop segment, you know something extraordinary is about to happen.
The July Worship Music Festival, scheduled for 11 July 2026 at Glamis Stadium, has assembled a line-up that spans generations, genres, and styles — ensuring that every worshipper finds their rhythm.
A Royal Gathering
Leading the charge are some of Zimbabwe’s most iconic gospel names. The legendary Baba naMai Charamba, whose music has defined worship for decades, will be joined by The Cherayis and the soulful Eleana Makombe — a trio that guarantees a rich blend of traditional worship and contemporary sounds.
But the festival is not just about the veterans. A fresh wave of talent is ready to make its mark, including Benjamin Rupapa, The Unveiled, Tapiwa Masara, Tinashe Muponda, Bridget Ndanga, and Saiwe Chimbetu — who brings her own unique blend of traditional worship sound.
For those not in the know, Saiwe is the daughter of the legendary Simon Chimbetu, carrying forward a musical dynasty that has shaped Zimbabwe’s sound for generations.
Also not to be forgotten is Vimbai Mahendere, the wife of festival founder Minister Michael Mahendere, who will add her own grace and anointing to the stage.
Christian Hip-Hop Takeover
But the biggest buzz this year is reserved for the festival’s newest addition: a Christian Hip-Hop segment that promises to bring an urban flavour to the worship experience.
Taking the stage will be Whistle Inspires, Swazy, Yeomie Kay, and Jason Gwanzura — four of the most exciting voices in the country’s emerging gospel rap scene.
And if Minister Michael’s excitement is anything to go by, this is going to be explosive.
‘About to Go CRAZY for the Kingdom!’
Taking to his official Facebook page, Mahendere could barely contain his enthusiasm.
“Ayooo Chat!!! We’ve got some twins dripping with pure aura on the grounds right now, and trust us, this segment is about to go CRAZY for the Kingdom!” he wrote.
“It’s time for the Christian Hip-Hop takeover! Get ready to vibe, jump, rap, praise and witness what God is doing through this generation.”
A Festival That Keeps Growing
The July Worship Music Festival has grown rapidly since its inception, drawing massive crowds eager for a fresh, energetic worship experience. This year’s edition promises nothing short of an explosive setting for praise and worship, with the new hip-hop segment adding an urban flavour that speaks directly to the youth.
From gospel royalty to rising stars, from traditional worship to hip-hop beats, the festival is shaping up to be a celebration of the full spectrum of Zimbabwean gospel music.
