BULAWAYO – All eyes are turning to the fairways of Bulawayo as NetOne prepares to host its fundraising event, the NetOne KidzCan Charity Golf Tournament, scheduled for 26 June 2026.
The tournament, which serves as the highlight of NetOne’s 2026 Winter Drive, is expected to draw corporate partners, community leaders, golf enthusiasts, and philanthropists from across the country—all united by a single mission: raising funds for children battling cancer.
A Swing for Survival
Proceeds from the tournament will directly support young cancer patients and their families at the KidzCan Rainbow Village in Harare, a facility that provides accommodation, meals, and critical support services to children receiving treatment from across Zimbabwe.
The tournament is not just about competition on the greens. It is about giving hope to families facing one of life’s most difficult battles.
A Partnership That Delivers
Speaking ahead of the event, NetOne Public Relations Manager Ernest Magadzire described the tournament as the culmination of a broader winter campaign that has already seen the telecommunications giant donate blankets, sheets, and essential winter items to young patients.
“Winter cannot wait,” Magadzire said. “While we are preparing for our fundraising golf tournament later this month, we felt it was important to act now and provide immediate support to children and families facing one of the most difficult battles of their lives.
“Through this partnership with KidzCan, we are delivering not only warmth, but also hope and reassurance that they are not alone.”
A Collective Effort
The tournament is expected to bring together a diverse field of participants, including senior corporate executives, government officials, and community leaders, all vying for top honours while contributing to a worthy cause.
For NetOne, the initiative represents more than a seasonal gesture. It is a demonstration of the company’s enduring commitment to using its reach, resources, and partnerships to improve lives—particularly for the most vulnerable members of society.
What the Funds Will Achieve
Money raised from the tournament will go towards:
Supporting children undergoing cancer treatment
Strengthening KidzCan’s capacity to provide care and accommodation
Ensuring young patients and their caregivers have access to essential services
Looking Ahead
As the countdown to 26 June begins, organisers are urging corporates and individuals to rally behind the cause. The message from NetOne is clear: no child should have to fight cancer alone.
With the tournament teeing off later this month, Bulawayo is set to become not just a sporting destination, but a beacon of hope for families across Zimbabwe.
