Zimbabwe has stepped confidently onto the global tourism stage, with the Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Hon Barbara Rwodzi, championing the country’s transformation agenda at the World Government Summit Roundtable on the Future of Tourism held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The high-level roundtable brought together global policymakers, investors and tourism leaders to explore emerging trends, sustainability responsibilities, and strategic investment opportunities shaping the future of the tourism sector.
Hon Rwodzi’s participation positioned Zimbabwe as a key player in conversations driving global tourism innovation.
Addressing the forum, the Minister highlighted Zimbabwe’s unique appeal, citing its rich cultural heritage, world-class safari experiences and renowned hospitality.
She noted the country’s growing international recognition, including positive coverage by Forbes Magazine, as evidence of Zimbabwe’s rising profile as a premier travel destination.
Hon Rwodzi also underscored the strength of Zimbabwe’s tourism policies, strategies and investment frameworks implemented under the leadership of His Excellency President Cde Dr E.D. Mnangagwa.
She reiterated the country’s guiding philosophy of being “a friend to all and an enemy to none,” a principle that continues to attract global partnerships and investment interest.
Acknowledging the support of UN Tourism in advancing Zimbabwe’s tourism growth, the Minister emphasized the need for increased investment in luxury tourism infrastructure. She highlighted flagship developments such as the ongoing construction of the multi-purpose International Cricket Stadium in Victoria Falls, a project expected to enhance the destination’s appeal for global events and high-end tourism.
The Minister further reaffirmed Zimbabwe’s readiness to host the UN Tourism Committee on Tourism and Sustainability from 27 to 28 April 2026, a milestone that reflects the country’s commitment to inclusive, resilient and future-focused tourism development.
