UZUMBA MARAMBA PFUNGWE – In a significant boost to local development, ZimWin Mining (Private) Limited has launched a comprehensive community support initiative in Uzumba Maramba Pfungwe (UMP), focusing on education, water access, and festive welfare.
The package, delivered at a vibrant ceremony at Chipawa Primary School on December 21, 2025, includes a $10,000 school fees fund for underprivileged pupils, a solar-powered borehole to serve over 500 villagers, a pledge to complete a school block, and a substantial donation of educational and sports materials.
The event, attended by community members and dignitaries including Member of Parliament Hon. Karimazondo Tichawona Makuwi, Chief Chitsungo, local councilors, and UMP Rural District Council representatives, highlighted the company’s commitment to sustainable community partnerships.
Education at the Core
ZimWin Mining’s support centers squarely on enhancing educational outcomes. The company donated stationery—including textbooks, exercise books, pens, and pencils—to over 405 students at Chipawa Primary School.
More substantially, Director Dr. Xilong Su announced a commitment to complete a school block currently constructed only to floor level.
“This demonstrates our commitment to improving local educational infrastructure. These new classrooms will reduce overcrowding and directly improve learning conditions,” Dr. Su stated.
The dedicated $10,000 school fees fund is designed to increase access to education for the most vulnerable students in the area.
Water, Wellness, and Ongoing Support
Addressing critical water needs, ZimWin officially commissioned a solar-powered borehole at the school. The facility will provide sustainable water access for both the institution and the surrounding community, benefiting over 500 people and supporting agricultural activities in line with the National Development Strategy 2.
In the spirit of the season, the company also distributed Christmas food hampers to families, continuing its annual tradition of providing one tonne of maize to households near its operations.
Leaders Applaud Partnership Model
Local leaders praised the initiative as a model of corporate-community synergy. Councilor Kapfudza, the event’s main speaker, commended ZimWin’s integrated approach to development.
Chief Chitsungo expressed deep gratitude while urging continued cooperation: “We urge community members to cooperate with ZimWin Mining for continued mutual benefits.”
Echoing this sentiment, Hon. Makuwi emphasized, “It is important to have strong community-company partnerships. This is how we build a sustainable future together.”
A Pattern of Investment
This latest project extends ZimWin’s established record of community investment in UMP. Earlier this year, the company donated three solar-powered boreholes to Sowa Secondary School, Gen’a community, and a local clinic. A clinic in Kunditsungira Village is currently under construction, and the company has recently completed a $15 million processing plant awaiting commissioning.
The initiative underscores ZimWin Mining’s broader corporate social responsibility focus on education, youth empowerment, and infrastructure aligned with national development goals.
