The Friends of the Gallery (FOG), in conjunction with the Festival of Song Zimbabwe and the Zimbabwe Association of Choral and Music Arts (ZACMA), will stage a presentation of A Night of Timeless Arias and Refined Voices as part of the FOG’s multidisciplinary activities.
A Night of Arias and Refined Voices is an immersive experience that will bring together world-class performers, innovative productions, and a diverse audience of opera enthusiasts and newcomers alike.
Showcasing a wide range of operatic styles and traditions, from classical masterpieces to the audiences, this Black Tie event aims on fostering a deeper appreciation for the art form and its global significance.
The National Gallery of Zimbabwe’s Courtauld Gallery will set be the stage for the event, this is nothing new as in previous years many recitals have been staged in this acoustically rich space.
“Opera, as an art form, has rich and diverse history that spans centuries and continents. From its origins in ancient Greece to its evolution in modern times, opera has been shaped by various cultural, social and artistic influences.
“Today opera continues to thrive, with a global community of artists, audiences, and institutions that celebrate its unique blend of music, drama and spectacle” said Simbarashe Makavanaga, the ZACMA representative.
“The Friends of the Gallery has had a very successful year; after facilitating two Arts and Crafts Fairs, and the NGZ’s Birthday celebration, we have come together with the Festival of Song to bring the operatic discipline into the Gallery” said Victor Nyakauru, the Chairman of the FOG.
“We are inviting all opera lovers to join us to support an art form that is deserving of a greater following” he concluded.
A Night of Timeless Arias and Refined Voices will take place at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe on Saturday the 11th of October 2025, from 16:00hrs.
The event will be strictly Black Tie, with tickets available from the Artlife Shop at the National Gallery.
