Herentals – In a match that showcased the grit and resilience of both teams, Herentals FC and ZPC Kariba played to a tense goalless draw on Saturday.

Despite numerous scoring opportunities, neither side could break the deadlock, highlighting the impressive defensive displays and goalkeeping prowess on both ends.

The match kicked off with an electric atmosphere as fans filled the stands, eager for action. Early in the first half, ZPC Kariba‘s Sam Makawa came close to scoring, only to be thwarted by a brilliant block from Herentals’ Chitavira Joseph in the 15th minute.

Moments later, Innocent Benza missed a golden opportunity, failing to convert a pass from Chitavira that could have given his team the lead.

As the match progressed, both teams continued to create chances but struggled to find the finishing touch.

A standout moment came in the 20th minute when a face-off occurred between Gobvu Clemence of Herentals and ZPC goalkeeper Tatenda Munditi. Munditi’s quick reflexes prevented a certain goal, as he cleared the ball just in time.

The second half saw more missed opportunities, including Melvin Mukiwa’s wayward shot for Herentals in the 31st minute and Stanley Ngala’s missed header for ZPC Kariba just two minutes later.

The tension built as fans held their breath with each near-miss, but the final whistle confirmed a frustrating yet hard-fought draw.

Post-match, Herentals FC head coach Celestino Benza expressed pride in his team’s performance, especially given their mid-week match.

“We are very happy with the results. The boys showed great determination and resilience. It’s a great achievement for the team,” he stated.

Meanwhile, ZPC Kariba’s coach Newton Chitewe praised his players for their efforts.

“We are pleased with the draw. Our aim was to stay within the top eight, and this result helps us achieve that goal,” he said.
