The 2025 MotoGP World Championship has taken a turn to the unpredictable, and that will hopefully continue when the Gran Premio de Aragon is held at MotorLand Aragon this coming weekend.

After major dominance from the Marquez brothers – Marc Marquez of Ducati Lenovo and his younger sibling, Alex Marquez of BK8 Gresini – in the early phase of the campaign, the last two races in France and Britain have thrown up surprise winners in the shape of Johann Zarco (Castrol Honda LCR) and Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing).
Bezzecchi’s triumph at Silverstone was effectively handed to him by Monster Energy Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo. The Frenchman has claimed pole position at the last two races after a surge in pace from his Yamaha machine, but sadly he suffered a mechanical issue in Britain as he was forced to retire from the lead of the race.
“Of course it [Yamaha’s improvement] gives me hope,” said Quartararo. “But **** it’s so **** what happened [at Silverstone] because we improved the bike and when everything is going in a good way we know we are fast.”
Bezzecchi, meanwhile, was delighted to win for Aprilia – especially amid reports that injured reigning World Champion Jorge Martin is thinking of quitting the Italian team.
“Well, of course I’m proud, I’m happy,” said Bezzecchi. “But I think the whole factory has to be proud. It was not, as I said already many times, it was not an easy period for them with the injury of Jorge.
“He was, I don’t want to say main rider, but almost because he is the world champion. So, was not an easy beginning for them. But from my side I just tried to work as much as I could to bring them what they deserve.”
In terms of the Riders’ Championship, Marc Marquez continues to lead the way (196 points) ahead of his brother Alex Marquez (172) and teammate Francesco Bagnaia (124).
Bagnaia, who crashed out of the British GP, is hopeful that Ducati can fix the issue of a “lack of feel” that has affected their bikes in the last couple of races.
“It’s something to reflect on and I know perfectly how my team and engineers are working to find a solution because others are improving and we are stuck, or even going worse. So, we need to do a step,” said the two-time World Champion.
