The government has reaffirmed its commitment to healthcare and community welfare, with Minister of State for Mashonaland West Marian Chombo pledging full support for grassroots initiatives during a recent free medical outreach in Mutorashanga.
Held at Winsor Primary School in Zvimba North, the outreach was led by Mashonaland West Boys DzaMudhara and provided essential medical and dental services to residents.
The initiative drew strong government backing, aligning with Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030 goals for healthier, more inclusive communities.
“As Minister of State, I assure you of the government’s support for healthcare and community development initiatives,” said Minister Chombo.
“Let us work together to address healthcare challenges and ensure everyone has access to quality care.”
The Winsor community, often forced to travel over 30km to the nearest clinic, received consultations, screenings, and health education—services normally out of reach for many of the district’s 3,000 households.
Mashonaland West Boys DzaMudhara Chairperson Andrew Mugabe said the program echoed President Mnangagwa’s vision of leaving no one and no place behind.
“We’re thrilled to provide free medical care to the people of Mutorashanga,” Mugabe said. “This outreach reflects our commitment to improving lives and serving vulnerable communities.”
Elderly residents who walked over a kilometer to attend the program praised the initiative.
“The government has shown us we matter,” said 81-year-old David Zuze. “I’m truly grateful for this care at our doorstep.”
With growing calls for accessible healthcare, the government’s pledge to support such efforts marks a meaningful step towards sustainable health and welfare for all.
