Zimbabwe’s music scene just got a major shake-up!
Teemak (born Taona Chipunza), the once-controversial music promoter turned artist, has stormed back into the spotlight with his debut EP, Mavambo —and it’s anything but a quiet comeback.
A Rocky Past, A Fresh Start
Fans might remember Teemak as the man behind Zim dancehall star Enzo Ishall’s meteoric rise in 2015/16. But just as his career was taking off, scandal struck—Teemak found himself tangled in a crypto-currency mess that left him drowning in debt.
After years of silence, the UAE-based artist is back, and this time, he’s not promoting others—he’s the main act.
“Music has always been my first love,” Teemak confesses. “I started making songs with my mom at 12. Now, I’m ready to write my own story.”
“Mavambo”: A New Chapter with Big Vibes
The 6-track EP is packed with emotion, from the heart-wrenching “Painful” (a betrayal anthem with cinematic visuals shot in Nigeria) to the smooth, soulful “Something Special”—a love song that proves Teemak isn’t just a businessman, but a serious artist.
And let’s talk about those music videos—high-budget, sleek, and dripping with style. Clearly, Teemak isn’t playing small.
Will He Stick the Landing?
After years of ups and downs, the big question is: Can Teemak stay on top this time?
One thing’s for sure—Mavambo isn’t just a debut. It’s a statement. Whether he’s here for a moment or a movement, Zimbabwe’s music scene just got a whole lot more interesting.
Stream “Mavambo” now and witness the rebirth!
