Kariba Municipality has issued a notice to residents about a billing error related to the newly implemented water levy, which will take effect in January 2025.
Due to a technical issue in the Promun billing system, some January statements mistakenly omitted the water levy charge.
Municipal officials confirmed that the missing amounts will be added to affected accounts in the coming months.
Residents are urged to review their January statements carefully to check for the water levy. Those who do not see the charge will have it reflected in their February bills.
“We understand that billing discrepancies can cause confusion,” said Gabriel Mazivofa, spokesperson for the municipality.
“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate the community’s patience as we resolve this issue.”
The water levy is a critical funding source aimed at improving the municipality’s water supply and infrastructure. Residents are advised to adjust their payment plans to accommodate the upcoming charges and avoid further discrepancies.
