Professor Edison Gandiwa has been appointed the new Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority boss.
Professor Gandiwa who has over 20 years of experience in the fields of wildlife conservation and in higher education takes over from Dr Fulton Mangwanya who was recently appointed as Director General in the President’s Department by President Dr Emerson Mnangagwa.
Professor Gandiwa brings in a vast wealth of experience in wildlife management with a Doctor of Philosophy (PHD) Degree in wildlife Conservation and Management from Wageningen University and Research, Netherlands, he has a Master of Science Degree in Tropical Resource Ecology and a Bachelor of Science (Hon) in Environmental Science and Health.
Professor Gandiwa previously served as Director Scientific Services at ZimParks, he also worked as Senior Ecologist based at Hwange National Parks
Professor Gandiwa is the Current Chair of The African Elephant Fund Steering Committee under United Nations Environment Program (Nairobi, Kenya) and seats on several boards.
Professor Gandiwa has co-authored over 200 peer reviewed scientific publications.
Tinashe Farawo, ZimParks Spokesperson announced the new appointment of Professor Gandiwa as the new ZimParks Director which he said is with immediate effect.
