Children attending this year’s Zimbabwe Agricultural Show will get tags at the gates as part of the society’s heightened security measures.
The tags will have parents’ phone numbers so that in case of theft or missing persons, the police will know who to call and their next of kin.
This was said by Zimbabwe Agricultural Society Chief Executive Officer Dr Andrew Matibiri ahead of the of the show scheduled for 26 to 31 August 2024.
“Security issues are at the core of visitor convenience and the Zimbabwe Agricultural Society has now beefed-up security and will be using the latest technology to ensure public safety. Children again will be tagged with the support of our partners to ensure public safety. Motor vehicle movement will be restricted within the Business Hub during the Show,” Dr Matibiri said.
The 114th edition will be officially opened on Friday 30 August 2024 under the theme: “Cultivating Prosperity. Growing Business. Innovating for Change. Nurturing our Future.”
“This theme resonates deeply with our mission to showcase the industry’s remarkable achievements, cutting edge solutions, and boundless potential.
“The Zimbabwe Agricultural Society has placed a strong emphasis on providing a seamless and enjoyable experience for all attendees. Ample parking, food courts, and well-equipped facilities (gates and ticketing) will be available to ensure the comfort and convenience of visitors throughout the event,” Dr Matibiri said.
More than 560 exhibitors, occupy over 78 224 m2 of exhibiting space. The total number of confirmed exhibitors so far is 282 locals plus seven foreign, bringing the total to 289 and have to-date taken up 58 483.96 m2.
Dr Matibiri said the Show promises to captivate attendees with an impressive line-up of arena events that would complement the agricultural exhibitions.
Organizers have secured a diverse range of entertainment to engage the crowds throughout the week of the Show.
